The Top 10 Scariest WWE Superstars: No. 5 – 1

5. Vince McMahon

Vince McMahon
It just goes to show you don’t need weird make-up, fangs, a mask or a stupid green wig to be a scary character in the WWE as the tyrannical Vince McMahon makes it to number 5.
It was shortly after the “Monteral Screw Job” we stopped seeing Vince McMahon the commentator and began to see Mr. McMahon the boss. If one man had all the power to use and abuse, it was him, and boy, did he abuse it. He’s shouted the words “You’re Fired!” at several wrestlers throughout the years and created the “Kiss my ass” club, where members (forced to join) literally have to kiss his ass. But he will perhaps be best remembered for his feuds with Stone Cold Steve Austin, which are some of the greatest feuds in wrestling’s history.
Even though he’s not technically a wrestler, he has managed to capture the WWE and ECW Championships and won the Royal Rumble in 1999. Not bad.
4. Umaga

Umaga
At number 4, the destructive savage, Umaga.
Portrayed by Eddie Fatu, Umaga was originally known as Jamal, half of Eric Bischoff ‘s 3 Minute Warning until his release from the WWE in 2003. But upon his return in 2006, Fatu was rebranded as Umaga – a savage who could only be controlled by his manager, Armando Estrada.
He had notable feuds with the likes of Ric Flair, Bobby Lashley, Mr. Kennedy and Kane, but his highlight would have to be his feud with WWE Champion John Cena. Sadly, Umaga never managed to capture the WWE Championship, but did win the Intercontinental Championship on two separate occasions. Also, between April 2006 and January 2007, Umaga had never been defeated by pin fall. Pretty successful if you ask us.
Umaga left the WWE in June 2009.
Tragically, Eddie Fatu died on the 4th of December 2009 aged 36.
3. The Boogeyman

The Boogeyman
The worm-eating, clock-smashing Boogeyman makes it to number 3 on the countdown.
In July 2005, as is often the way with these characters, WWE started to air horror movie style promos for new character, the Boogeyman, but it wasn’t until October when the Boogeyman made his television debut. He would often appear and recite nursery rhymes, hold up his clock and shout “I’m the Boogeyman and I’m comin’ to get’cha!”. He also had a taste for live worms and on the odd occasion, would share his tastes with his defeated opponents by leaving them with a mouth full of worms. Yuck.
Originally on Smackdown, Boogeyman moved to the ECW brand in 2007 where he predominately stayed until he was eventually released by the WWE in 2009.
The Boogeyman was actually Marty Wright, who now wrestles on the independent circuit and goes by the names of “Slither” and “The Nightcrawler”.

2. Kane

Kane
The Big Red Machine storms in at number 2.
In 1997, Paul Bearer, feuding with the Undertaker, threatened to reveal Taker’s biggest secret – his long-lost half-brother, Kane. And during Taker’s Hell in the Cell match with Shawn Michaels at WWF: Badd Blood, the lights went out, the organ theme started playing and out came a masked giant wearing a red and black body suit – it was the birth of Kane.
He was supposedly horribly disfigured in a fire started by the Undertaker back when they were both children, hence his reason for wearing a mask and going after Taker. To begin with, Kane couldn’t speak, but as time went on, he began to become more vocal. He even managed to find love with DX’s Tori in 2000. And in 2003, Kane was unmasked, where it was revealed that the scars he hid underneath a mask were only psychological rather than physical as he himself believed.
But Kane will probably be best remembered for his love/hate relationship with the Undertaker. The pair of them have had some of the greatest feuds in WWE history, but at the same time, have also been a very successful tag team combination, winning the tag championship on several occasions. Kane has also been highly successful in the singles division, having held nearly all of the titles available in the WWE during his career.
It would be a travesty if Kane wasn’t featured on this list. His ring presence and mentally damaged persona make him a very scary superstar indeed. But throughout his career (and in this countdown) he has only been topped by one man……

1. Undertaker

The Undertaker
So at number one, the scariest superstar in the WWE – it’s the Deadman himself, the Undertaker.
The Undertaker was first seen a massive 21 years ago in 1990! Best known for his long trench coat, black hat and gothic entrance music, Undertaker stands at just under 7 foot tall and is a terrifying presence in the ring. He’s held the major WWE championships on numerous occasions and has never been defeated at a WrestleMania event – achievements few other wrestlers can match.
Throughout the 21 years in the WWE, the character has obviously undergone some changes. Most notable is dropping the gothic look between the years of 2000 to 2003 and becoming “The American Badass”. But even though he didn’t dress in black anymore, he himself claimed he was “still down with the devil”. Eek. However, in 2004 he dusted off the trench coat and black hat and once again became the deadman as we know him today.
In reality, the Undertaker is Mark Calaway and at the age of 46 has had to start taking it a little easier. He’s currently out of action due to an injury. It’s not certain if he will return to the ring on a full-time basis or just make the odd appearance now and again – most likely at WrestleMania. But one thing is for sure – The Undertaker is most definitely the scariest superstar to ever step into the WWE ring.

So do you agree with the countdown? Has someone been left out? Perhaps you think Goldust is far scarier than the Boogeyman – either way let us know. You can leave comments below or tweet us @MAWdotnet. And Happy Halloween!
