WWE NXT Results – August 23, 2011

We are live from Calgary . . . Alberta, Canada and your announcers are William ‘Lance Storm’ Regal and Todd ‘Is there a Hart Dungeon for announcers’ Grisham. Your hosts are Matt ‘Tim Horton’s’ Striker and Maryse.

Matt Striker is in the ring and he welcomes everyone to NXT. He says that we are one step closer to choosing our next breakout star. Matt is interrupted by Darren Young.

Darren wants to know how many times do we have to hear about redemption or these stupid challenges. Darren says that this makes him sick. He is sick and tired of Matt’s voice, his face, and Matt in general.

Matt says that they have jobs to do and Darren says that his job the last two weeks has been beating him up. Darren tells Matt to leave the ring so he can show how he is going to get redemption.

Matt says that he cannot beat Darren Young and he wants to know if that is what Darren wants to hear. He wants Matt to say that Darren is the future of the WWE while Matt is a washed up talent who couldn’t cut it in the WWE.

Matt thinks about it and he tells Darren that he is the better man and he wants to know if we can move along. Darren wants Matt to say that he is the best in the WWE. Matt says that Darren has been in the gym and ring every day for two years while Matt says that he has been at the beach every day listening to Rush and watching hockey. Matt says that Darren has beaten him the last two weeks and he probably has the best shot at winning, but he would rather work with Darren than against him. He wants to get past this.

Darren shakes Matt’s hand but Darren with a kick and then he clotheslines Striker. William Regal makes his way into the ring and Young goes to the floor.

Regal wags his finger at Young while Young has something to say to Regal.

Tyson Kidd gets ready in the locker room and he sees his gear ruined. He wonders which comedian did this. He sees the Japanese symbols on his bag and they look like the symbols that were on the TitanTron last week.

We go to commercial.

William Regal explains to Todd why he did what he did. William is wiling to face Darren Young if Darren is going to continue to treat the veterans like that.

Match Number One: Tyson Kidd versus Trent Barreta

Tyson soaks in the cheers of the Calgary crowd in his home town before they lock up and they get to their knees and back to their feet. Trent with a clean break. Tyson with a waist lock take down and Trent with a standing switch followed by a hip lock take down. Trent with a side head lock take down but Tyson escapes.

They lock up and Trent with a side head lock and then after a few leap frogs and a kip up they have a stand off. Trent with a kick and then he works on the wrist. Kidd with a forearm and then he uses the ropes for an arm drag to escape and then Kidd with an arm drag into an arm bar. Kidd with a key lock and he wants the referee to check on Trent to see if he wants to continue.

Kidd with a shoulder tackle but Trent with a back elbow and he gets a near fall. Trent with an elbow to the head and he gets a near fall. Trent with a chop to Tyson in the corner. Kidd with an Irish whip but Kidd is stopped by Trent in the corner and Trent gets a near fall. Trent with a reverse chin lock on Kidd and he adds extra pressure. Kidd with elbows but Trent with a forearm to the back. Trent with elbows to Tyson.

Trent with a suplex and he gets a near fall. Kidd with a drop kick to Barreta and then Kidd with a kick and he goes to the apron. Kidd with a springboard move but Trent with a drop kick to stop Kidd and Trent with a near fall.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Trent with a side head lock and he has Kidd on the mat. Trent gets a near fall on Kidd. Kidd gets to his feet and he backs Trent intot he corner and he connects with a snap mare. Trent with a running back elbow into the corner. Kidd goes to the floor. Trent with a baseball slide but he is stopped by Trent and then he spins Trent around and kicks Trent in the chest. Kidd takes Trent down to the floor with a swinging neck breaker and both men are down as the referee starts his count.

They return to the ring and Kidd gets a near fall. Kidd with a kick and a drop kick to the head and he gets a near fall. Kidd catapults Trent into the middle ropes and then Kidd tries for a slingshot leg drop to the apron but Trent moves out of the way.

Trent with a springboard corkscrew splash onto Kidd and both men are down on the floor. They get back into the ring and Trent gets a near fall. Kidd struggles to get back to his feet while Trent is the first to his feet. Trent puts Tyson on the top turnbuckle and then he slaps Tyson. Trent sets for a superplex but Kidd is able to go to the apron and he kicks Trent and crotches him.

Kidd sets for a superhurricanrana and then Trent rolls through. Tyson is able to counter with a set up for a Sharpshooter but Trent with a near fall on a rollup. Both men with clotheslines and both men are down. Kidd gets to his feet first and Trent with chops. Tyson blocks a chop and he kicks Trent and he follows it with forearms and kicks. Kidd with a back heel kick but Trent with a flying knee for a near fall.

Trent sets for the tornado DDT but Tyson counters and Tyson hits the Rolling Maple Leaf and Trent tries to get to the ropes and he finally succeeds. Tyson gets to his feet and the Japanese symbol appears on the screen and this time there is music.

Trent recovers and hits the tornado DDT and he gets the three count.

Winner: Trent Barreta with an assist from the mysterious Japanese symbol man and music

We are back and Todd and William talk about the unexpected things we have seen recently. We take a look back at what happened last week when Derrick Bateman drew Hornswoggle and Titus O’Neil out of the ring to allow Maxine to attack AJ Lee.

Derrick is giving Maxine a massage and he says that they are the hottest couple in NXT. They will be more powerful than Triple H. They will be more provocative than Edge. They will be bigger than Dusty Rhodes and Sapphire.

Maxine says that she wants to get rid of AJ Lee first and Derrick says that he has a surprise for Hornswoggle. Maxine tells Derrick that she has a surprise for Derrick later.
